Jack, Head of Beverage at Zeffer

At Zeffer, crafting exceptional drinks isn’t just about great ingredients - it’s about passion, innovation, and a little bit of magic behind the scenes. And no one knows that better than Jack, our Head of Beverage. 

From dreaming up new flavour combinations to keeping the canning line in check, Jack plays a vital role in bringing Zeffer’s signature drinks to life. We sat down with him to find out more about what makes him tick, his favourite trends, and even his secret guilty pleasure drink.

Can you tell us a little about your role as Head of Beverage at Zeffer and what a typical day looks like for you?

My role at Zeffer is quite diverse! I do everything from production planning and logistics, new blend development, fixing the canning line and other machinery, and of course lots of tasting!

What excites you the most about working in the beverage industry, and what drives your passion for creating drinks?

I love that every day is different, there are always new challenges and the industry is full of passionate people. Creating new drinks is exciting as there are endless opportunities to deliver new and exciting flavours and experiences.

Zeffer is known for its unique flavours and high-quality ingredients. What’s the process behind developing a new drink from concept to bottle?

I tend to look at flavour combinations that work well and what people seem to be wanting, and then think how we can give them the Zeffer twist. That means finding fresh fruit that is harvested in season which is full of flavour and getting that natural goodness into a beverage. We avoid using lots of sugar as crutch and spend more on real high quality ingredients. You can taste the difference!  

What trends do you see emerging in the beverage industry, and how is Zeffer planning to stay ahead of the curve?

People are looking for beverages that are better for them. We have always had lower sugar options as well as our 0% range. We are innovating in a totally new direction at the moment, but it's too early to spill the beans!

What’s your “guilty pleasure” drink—something you’d never admit to the team, but you secretly love?

After living in the states for 10 years, I'll admit I miss a Coors Light!

If you could swap places with anyone at Zeffer for a day, who would it be and what would you do in their role?

Probably one of the sales guys, get out a bit more and talk to the buyers and sellers. It's easy to get caught up in the cellar and think you're making something people will love, but it’s important to get feedback from the gatekeepers! But only for a day lol.
